Welcome to Le Marais, one of the oldest and most beautiful districts in Paris! We hope you will join us for a stroll around Le Marais to uncover just some of what it has to offer, from the beautiful Place des Vosges, said to be the most beautiful square in the whole of Paris, to rue des Rosiers, still considered to be an important centre for the Parisian Jewish community, to rue Vieille du Temple, one of the busiest streets in the Paris gay district, to Centre Georges Pompidou, too modern and ugly to some, bold and beautiful to others! See the the tour below to find out just where we take you on this lovely Parisian morning!

A Morning in Le Marais
St Paul Metro, Paris, line one, paris marais, tour of paris
Once you have finished looking around the Metro, take a walk towards Square Louis XIII on the map, past rue de Turenne. On your left, keep an eye out for the fresh fish stall. Paris may be far from the coast, but that does not stop the flow of fresh fish entering the city every day. Yummy!
Starting the tour at St Paul(metro line 1), gives you a great introduction to Le Marais. This metro is always busy outside, a popular meeting place for the fashionable young French and their friends. You will find big chain supermarkets to Artisan Boulangeries outside the metro. Your biggest problem here is stopping yourself from getting too distracted by all the wonderful food stores before you forget about the rest of the tour! Our favorite has to be the Wild Boar butcher shop to the right.

When you arrive at rue de Birague you should instantly see a grand arch, the entrance to Place des Vosges. However, before you make your way to the arch, spend some time window shopping, checking out the local shops. You can find a range of things from silverware to general cool stuff you would generally not buy unless you see how great it looks in the store!

Once you walk through the arch you will see a beautiful square, especially if you visit during the summer months. The 360 virtual tour below was taken in late winter. The weather was not pretty but the square still looks very beautiful.
