Place des Vosges was so named after the French revolution when the region of Vosges in the north east of France was the first to pay taxes to the new French government. They renamed the square in their honor. Considered by some to be the most beautiful square in Paris, this place is a definite must visit if you are around the Marais.

In the summer this place is full of locals and tourists, sitting on the grass enjoying lunch with friends, an afternoon in the sunshine. In the winter it is not as busy, though as you can see from the 360/180 above, Place des Vosges is still worth a visit.
