Once home to the Opéra National de Paris, this magnificent building in the 9th arrondissement is worth a visit, as the many tourists in the area agree!

The building Opéra is actually called Palais Garnier, though usually people refer to it simply as Opéra. Inaugurated in 1875, it was home to the Opéra National de Paris until 1989 upon the completion of Opéra Bastille.
Take a look at the Gigapixel Photo of Opéra below. We are sure you will agree the building looks amazing. You can still see the old name, Académie Nationale de Musique, though it lost that name in 1989.

There is also a lot of shopping to do around Opéra, including the Apple store which always draws a crowd. It is most famous for the Printemps & Galeries Lafayette department stores on Boulevard Hausmann. If you are looking for even more exclusive stores, you will find them lining rue de la Paix on the way to Place Vedôme (another place for expansive Paris shopping).
Below you will find a couple of photos of some of the stores along rue de la Paix, leading to Place Vendôme.
Christofle, Tartine et Chocolat, Repetto and Noblesse de Naples.
Van Cleef & Arpels and Hotel Park Hyatt Paris.
