Belleville - Rue Dénoyez

Considered by some to be the coolest street in Belleville, the Graffiti street, Rue Dénoyez, certainly does have a lot to offer. This legal wall for Graffiti has certainly turned around the fortunes of a street that was up until quite recently in serious decline. If you decided to visit Belleville during your stay in Paris, be sure to check out Rue Dénoyez.
Where once there was a street full of closed shops, there is now a thriving art community here along with plenty of great stores to support it. The greatest thing about Rue Dénoyez is that each time you visit it looks different! For such a short street, Rue Dénoyez dazzles you with so much color and and different street art every time you return!
The artists even make the most worst-for-wear parts of the street look great, like the gaping whole in the wall to the right! Not sure we would ask them to repair holes in our walls though:)
Rue Dénoyez is sometimes referred to as the street of drowned people (La Rue des noyés), as Dénoyez sounds a lot like des noyés. Very apt considering they very recently opened up a new swimming pool here.
It is not hard to find street artists at work, as you can see from the 360 photo of Rue Dénoyez above. How nice to think of the layers upon layers os street art, hidden under the surface of the latest work. Right click and select fullscreen to have a good look.
It seems the locals like the new-look Rue Dénoyez too! The old lady to the left was enjoying a chat with each of the artists as she walked by. It may not be her thing, but it seems she likes the positive change the Graffiti wall in Rue Dénoyez has had on the local area.
Rue Dénoyez is definitely worth a look if you decided to visit Belleville during your vacation to Paris.
