Since the 1960s, Belleville has been very popular with Tunisian and Algerian immigrants. Previously to this, it was more the Greeks, Armenians and German Jews who settled here. Recently the Chinese community has created the city's second Chinese district. This helps make Belleville a wonderful culturally diverse neighborhood, which is split between the 10th, 11th, 19th and 20th arrondissements.

This is likely to change though, considering Belleville is now considered to be one of the coolest up-and-coming neighborhoods in Paris.
