Paris is full of great bars in most districts. Expect to pay a lot for your drinks however, with just a pint of beer costing around 7-8 euros in most bars, often more. It is probably worth learning to nurse your beer for an hour, like a true Parisian!
Here you will find reviews of Paris bars, by us and our readers. To start us off, we have added a virtual tour of the Yono Bar, which is in the heart of the Marais and well worth a visit.
Le Yono
This is quite a large bar, with 5 rooms in total, though the 5th, located in the basement, is used for special events and is not generally accessible.
The guys who run the bar, Yoanne and Arnaud, are very cool guys who make you feel very welcome, along with the rest of the bar staff. Service is good, with your order being taken pretty quickly with the option to take drinks at the bar. There is also food on offer, currently in the form of some cold plates (cheese, ham etc) and some tapas (very delicious). We are told that they will soon be offering a full restaurant service, which is great as they have a superb restaurant area upstairs.
The crowd is pretty mixed in the main bar, with the DJ Bar attracting a wide variety of trendy people, depending on the event being held, which are frequent and usually pretty cool (they often have a DJ in the downstairs bar). The age range is usually around 20-40, though no one of any age is going to feel odd sitting in this bar. The bar is pretty mixed in terms of gay/straight. It is not a gay bar, neither is it a straight bar, rather it is a bar that attracts a good mix of both.
They offer a large variety of cocktails, which you will discover on the comprehensive cocktail menu offered to you when you sit down or approach the bar. You also get the usual array of beers, spirits and wines on the menu. Happy hour is from 6 until 8:30! You must try the Mojito!
We will leave you to judge the decor (we think it is great) as we have a superb virtual tour below, allowing you to tour the bar before you visit!
In our opinion Le Yono is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a friendly, trendy, lively bar in the heart of Paris with enough quiet areas to keep everyone happy.
