AR.Drone spotted patrolling the skies around the Eiffel Tower in this Gigapixel Photo of the Eiffel Tower. It was of course shot down by French fighter jets, mistaking it for an enemy aircraft, shattering the dreams of AR.Drone users worldwide thinking they could achieve such heights with their little WIFI connections and get away with it:) The AR.Drone is multiplying and spreading though, so still lots of fun to be had!

A completely made up source, M. Henry Argent from Parrot, makers of the AR.Drone
Quadricopter, confirmed today that in light of the recent financial scandal in the banking industry where losses of over 5 billion euros were blamed on a junior trader, they have extended the AR.Drone patrol to cover La Defense. M. Argent stated that “With the recent firmware upgrade we have added the undocumented feature of a trade vetting engine. This will ensure that no single trade above 10€ will be allowed, meaning that at no stage will any French bank be exposed to those ruthless markets with those nasty Anglo Saxons trying to rip us off”.

Parisbyphoto.com tracked down a compliance manager at one of the largest banks in La Defense. M. Ahnon staed that “Now that AR.Drone is acting as our trade vetter, we no longer need to fear we will be exposed by the tens of billions of euros, as happened recently during a coffee break”. When pressed to explain further, M. Ahnon stated that “Well, you know we are just 600
in the compliance department, ensuring none of the 17 traders at our bank do anything wrong during the day, except during our group coffee breaks, which was unfortunately the last time that the bank lost over 5 billion euros”.
Parisbyphoto.com asked M. Ahnon if the 12 minute battery life of the AR.Drone would be enough to cover them for their working day. M. Ahnon assured us that with the average working day in France coming in at just over 7 minutes, they would have time to spare.

A completely made up source, M. Jean Jambon at Parrot, makers of the AR.Drone
quadricopter today confirmed that they are patrolling the skies around the Eiffel Tower, Paris, as a direct response to the recent terrorist threat. M. Jean Jambon stated, "Us Frenchies can now sleep safe at night for 12 minutes, knowing that our most precious radio tower is under the vigilant eye of the AR.Drone."
M. Jean Jambon then went on to state, "We will of course look at using more batteries, as with with a recharge time of 1.5 hours and a rough flight time of 12 minutes per charge, we cannot currently offer enough peace of mind for the local Parisians to enjoy a worry-free lunch. With this in mind, our aim is to have enough batteries to cover at least the early part of déjeuner, from 12:00 to 15:00, for which we will need to use another 15 batteries plus 1 more AR.Drone unit and a battery charger, to ensure we miss nothing during this important time of a Parisian's day." No mention of how many iGadgets would be needed to fly the AR.Drones.

M. Jean Jambon did not state what the AR.Drone would do if it detected suspicious activity, though he did hint that the AR.Drone is able to fire anti-ant lasers, which could of course be used to distract anyone up to no good in the vicinity of the Eiffel Tower, Paris. Sadly, firing the lasers just once reduces the flight time to around 4.8 seconds. Bon courage!

Meanwhile, M. Henry Argent was visiting La Defense to demonstrate how easy it is to repair your AR.Drone in the field with sticky tape. For working an extra 45 seconds M. Henry Argent was given an extra 17 days vacation, which happily brings him to the start of his retirement, at the age of just 28. Vive La Republique!
