Brocante de Printemps (2nd hand market- springtime)

The bi-annual 2nd hand market on rue de Bretagne is here, with the usual selection of junk and treasures, all for high prices:) Go take a look by 29th May if you fancy your chances of finding a hidden treasure for a bargain price. You will find it all along rue de Bretagne, 75003, spilling into the many side streets.

Village du Jasmin - Paris Hotel de Ville

On a cracking sunny Saturday, Parisbyphoto went to look at the Village du Jasmin, which has been setup outside L`Hôtel de Ville, Paris, to celebrate the Tunisian Revolution, promote tourism, produce, goods etc of Tunisia. Well worth a look if you are in Paris this weekend. 21st - 22nd May, Paris L`hotel de Ville.

If you cannot make it, go check out the Parisbyphoto photo gallery of the Village du Jasmin plus some video of a motrocycle protest that turned up whilst we were there. They were loud!

Paris-Nice 2011 Bike Race

Last year at Paris by Photo we covered the opening time-trials of the Paris-Nice bike race, which was a lot of fun (check out our photos here). This year we have decided to follow the 2011 Paris-Nice bike race from Houdan all the way down to Nice.

We will add daily photo galleries of the start and finish of each stage (hopefully!) and update the leader board at the end of each day. If we manage to capture some extraordinary shots, we will post them as soon as we are able and announce it on Twitter, so make sure you subscribe to our Twitter channel (http://twitter.com/#!/parisbyphoto) and check back often to see the latest galleries and leader board for the 2011 Paris-Nice bike race.

Not only will we get to see the entire race, we will try to photograph all the beautiful towns and villages we visit on our way, including taking a few gigapixel images and 360 photos along our way if we find something special. We will add a special section to the website to show off our photo galleries, so be sure to keep an eye out for them and keep an eye on our progress on Twitter.

Maybe we will inspire you to leave Paris for a few days to visit some of the places we will photograph during the 2011 Paris-Nice bike race.

We hope the 2011 Paris-Nice bike race will be a great start to the 2011 cycling season.

French Christmas Dinner

Now, it is not so easy to define a French Christmas dinner, though certainly most of the French we know have a mainly seafood dinner along with fois gras, a nice Chapon (or something similar), plenty of champagne and a great yuletide log.

AR Drone Spotted Patrolling Paris' Business District

Henry Argent from Parrot, makers of the AR.Drone Quadricopter, confirmed today that in light of the recent financial scandal in the banking industry where losses of over 5 billion euros were blamed on a junior trader, they have extended the AR.Drone patrol to cover La Defense. M. Argent stated that “With the recent firmware upgrade we have added the undocumented feature of a trade vetting engine. This will ensure that no single trade above 10€ will be allowed, meaning that at no stage will any French bank be exposed to those ruthless markets with those nasty Anglo Saxons trying to rip us off”.
